Panic

August 4, 2016

I was sure it was a fake email—the color was off, there was an underscore instead of a hyphen, & most telling, Verizon takes money from checking not my credit card. But they had the last 4 digits of both my account & credit card right. So I called my credit card company & discovered Verizon has been using my credit card all along. I didn't think to look at previous months. Better to be safe, Matthew from American Express said kindly. But I felt like an eejit. I could say it's hot or I was distracted, which is probably true, but I usually can track things like this better. It's funny to see yourself make a mistake you don't generally make. Does it mean anything beyond no one's consistent, no one's flawless? Probably not. I like the reminder.
