Second visit

I like this painting because of the snowman.
Not a whole lot more to say after my second visit to the Wojnarowicz show at the Whitney.

I caught more of him talking & his writings this time around. I caught the dissonance of looking out at the piers where he spent time from the giant window of a half-billion-dollar art museum. I hoped there's a young Wojnarowicz making impassioned & beautiful art right now about what's going on in our world. I hope it doesn't take 3 decades for her work to enrage & encourage people, although I'm fine with it taking 3 decades for her to become "official."

His work was better in its own milieu of dirty 1980s NYC anarchy. It's not even all that good hanging in a museum, although it was fantastically galvanizing at the time.
