England! Wales!

Even though I've been back a couple of weeks, I think I'm going to talk about my trip now. So many events have whirled me away from that vacation but I still do have thoughts about it.

One is how happy it makes me to know all I have to do is buy a plane ticket & let people know I'm coming. When I show up, they've arranged everything, down to who's feeding & housing me. Family! For example, if Hazel were my mother's oldest friend rather than her cousin (& oldest friend), I wouldn't have assumed she would put me up. (Actually, I didn't assume she would—she invited me to stay with her.) Because we're related, I'm not a curiosity—her old friend's daughter who she'd be happy to meet but has no place in her life. Instead, I want to see pictures & I get to meet my actual second cousins.
