Yankees O Yankees

It's like finding your favorite shirt in a drawer, the one you used to wear every couple of days & loved how it felt on & how you looked in it, that you somehow inexplicably forgot all about. I've been—inexplicably (not just because Jeter retired—on baseball hiatus & it took the beautiful game Tuesday to remind me of how much I've missed it.

The sound of an A-Rod homer, for example: possibly no one since Reggie Jackson has had such thunder in his homers. My delight that my girl Annie (age 14) watches in the casual/serious way of a true fan; we're now peers as well as friends. Keeping score.

Also, I might love Didi Gregorius, if for no other reason than that he shares my birthday but wow there were a couple of great plays: he's worth keeping an eye on.
