Johnny in a non-Armani t-shirt that he had made about 1990, lost recently, & just ordered again.
At the Armani store on Fifth Avenue, which we only went in because some guy at the bus stop said go, it’s amazing.

Johnny immediately said, let’s get out of here, I don’t like to be greeted so much.

I made him look at these wispy little shirts, quite ugly, with sequin butterflies on them, & others similarly kitschy. I can’t believe that wife beater is $345, I said.

It must be a trophy wife beater, he said.

When Saks opened in Portland opened, we walked thru and saw a pink checked dress with ric rac, $350. Jim said it looked like the dress his Aunt Luella got at Kmart. We giggled all the way out.

SAME exact story! A pink checked dress with ric rac -- was it Saks? Some fancy story like that - & expensive like you wouldn't believe. And we said the same thing -- I wouldn't pay $5 for that at a yard sale. My friend & I have giggled about that many many times over the years. I will ask her if it was Saks. She'll remember.
p.s. She says it was Barney's & remembers the dress costing THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS.

Yes it was Barney's, which we explored from floor to floor exclaiming how there was nothing we would pay for. Then we came upon THE DRESS, What a laugh. We looked at it for ages, wondering who would possibly wear it--or pay more than $1 for it.
